Even though the sweltering equatorial heat has been relieved by the occasional rain shower, it's always a fight to keep cool in the tropics. So when something like the
HandyCooler, a USB gizmo that claims to be a personal air-conditioner, comes along, you gotta love it. If you take apart the high aspirations, this is really just a portable USB-powered fan that utilizes a damp sponge to blow humidified air. The catch is that with such a tiny device, it'll be more hassle than help when you have to keep soaking the sponge more often than you like. The cool thing is this 198g swamp cooler can operate on-the-go with four AA batteries that will chug along for 5 hours at a stretch. Alternatively, you can save yourself that US$39.99 since most places in Asia are air-conditioned anyway.

I think this there's a typo here. Most places in Singapore are indeed air-conditioned. On the other hand, very few places in Asia are air-conditioned. Asian people just get used to the heat.
