LG Borderless HDTVs coming to Asia

Following our earlier report on the LG Borderless TVs, its spokesperson has acknowledged that the SL8000- and SL9000-series will be launched in Asia. The localized models will be available under the SL80- and SL90-series with the following specifications.


SL80-series conventional LCD TVs
  • Available in 32-, 37-, 42- and 47-inch sizes
  • Full-HD Super-In Plane Switching (S-IPS) panel
  • 150,000:1 dynamic contrast
  • 200Hz scanning backlight technology
  • Integrated Digital TV (IDTV)
  • Bluetooth wireless connectivity
  • Onboard HD DivX and MKV playback via USB
  • Four HDMI 1.3 inputs
  • Expert mode for indepth user tuning


    SL90-series LED-edgelit LCD TVs
  • Available in 42- and 47-inch sizes
  • Full-HD S-IPS panel
  • 3 million:1 dynamic contrast
  • 100Hz frame interpolation technology
  • IDTV
  • Bluetooth wireless connectivity
  • Onboard HD DivX and MKV playback via USB
  • Four HDMI 1.3 inputs
  • Expert mode for indepth user tuning

    It's a close fight between the two Korean chaebols as far as the panel bezel depth is concerned. The SL90 edges ahead of the current Samsung LED-edgelit models by a hair with a 0.9mm margin. LG was unable to comment further on availability and pricing for Asia.

    very nice indeed thats one of the things holding me off from getting a samsung is that I dont think the red border goes with my surrounds very well would kind of like it to blend in , and for some reason samsung doesnt offer the plasma without border here in manila but lets hope this comes here soon because Im looking for another tv but this time im in no rush ..... cant wait to hear more

    That looks attractive. I always wanted a border less TV. Hope it comes out quick and with a good price.
