The Sprint Hero (center) looks like a crossbreed of the GSM Hero (left) and Magic (right).
Mobile operator Sprint has snagged the HTC Hero for the US. Being a CDMA operator, the innards of this Hero is different from the GSM version that in available in Europe and Asia. But technical specifications aside, the most apparent change is in the form factor. Yes, HTC actually let Sprint do away with the design element that has defined its range of Android-based devices, the protruding chin.
We put the picture of the GSM Hero, Sprint Hero and Magic side by side, and you can see how the chin-less Hero really looks more like the older Magic. Aside from the rounded edges, it also sports the massive trackball that we really liked on the Magic.
Now, this may be good new for those who disliked the protrusion on the GSM Hero. But in a survey conducted by gadget blog MobileCrunch, more users seemed to prefer the original over Sprint's. Fortunately (or unfortunately for some), this is not a decision any of us here in Asia has to make because the CDMA Hero won't appear here. But if given a choice, which design would you take? Let us know in Talkback below.

Well.. the "chin" will produce problems for ppl wearing tight-fitting jeans and etc.. but the design of Sprint Hero does not not look elegant either...
