STUTTGART, GERMANY--The Finnish mobile giant introduced a new category of X-series music-phones at the annual
Nokia World event held this year in Stuttgart.
While we were initially confused as to why Nokia didn't put the handsets under its established XpressMusic label, we were told by a Nokia representative that the X-series will be an extension of the company's XpressMusic portfolio. She also hinted that the X-series may replace the XpressMusic category in the future for music-centric handsets, but didn't elaborate further. Given the use of X in both naming conventions, she believes it will not be hard for consumers to make the transition.

Now here's a couple of interesting facts about the new X-series handsets. The non-3G slider, the
X3, is the first S40 device with Ovi Store enabled and comes bundled with the portable MD-9 mini speaker in selected markets. It is also one of the few phones (like
iNo Mobile CP09) in the market to feature a built-in tuner antenna, so there's no need to connect a headset to listen to FM broadcasts. The higher-end
X6 phone has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen glass display and will be available only with the Comes With Music service.
Watch the video below for a quick overview of the X6.
