The 480Mbps USB 2.0 interface is fine and dandy if your external flash drive hovers around the 16GB capacity. But with solid-state storage hitting massive 64GB and above sizes, you'll need a wider pipe to transfer all that data off your desk-bound PC. The 3Gbps eSATA standard is five times faster than the older USB 2.0 interface, but, unfortunately, available only in mid- to high-end laptops at this time.
The Kanguru e-Flash thumbdrives have an interesting solution. By sporting both interfaces on each end, it gives consumers the option to use the faster eSATA or slower but ubiquitous ESB 2.0 port when the need arises. The e-Flash is available in 32GB and 64GB and costs a pretty penny at US$119.95 and US$199.95, respectively. This unique portable storage can be ordered from Kanguru's online store
