STUTTGART, GERMANY--This was the message the Finnish mobile giant gave at its pre-
Nokia World awards ceremony for its Forum Nokia 2009 Calling All Innovators competition. The contest aims to recognize developers who create real-world apps that enhance the use of the Finnish outfit's mobile devices.
The company outlined its plans to introduce local languages and content for its Ovi Stores in Brazil, China and France before the end of this year. The phone maker will also be looking to introduce more devices with access to the Ovi Store and to extend its mobile billing scheme. By the first quarter of 2010, Nokia hopes to have more than 20 Ovi Stores with localized content, languages, and operator billing in the native currency.
The Calling All Innovators contest this year saw more than 1,700 submissions from 85 countries. What's encouraging was that Asia is represented in all three of the categories awarded. Singapore firm
2C2P even came up tops in the "Emerging Markets and Mobile Necessities" category with its Mobile Credit Card Terminal app that lets users charge credit/debit card transactions securely via S60-based handsets.
