When we heard Channel 4 was wielding the axe on its
annual televised convention of caged morons, we didn't think we'd hear anything better for the rest of the year. Then we heard Rockstar confirm it was bringing
Grand Theft Auto to the iPhone.
GTA: Chinatown Wars will be hijacking the iPhone, iPod touch and Sony PSP this autumn. And while the euthanising of
Big Brother still ranks as 2009's greatest example of humanitarian kindness, the award for best why-the-hell-didn't-this-happen-sooner news goes to Rockstar.
The original Nintendo DS game, which centres on a morally ambivalent chap who travels to Liberty City to find out why his dad kicked the bucket, received glowing reviews when it was released earlier this year. In fact, CNET UK's sister site GameSpot UK gave it
9.5 out of ten in its review, along with a prestigious Editors' Choice award.
From what we know it'll be this same version that makes its way to the iPhone. And while we were secretly hoping to see the original
GTA on Apple's App Store this year,
Chinatown Wars is by no means disappointing.
