Some ideas are cliche, but some become so campy it's actually attractive in an
Austin Powers kind of way. Disney and Asus have teamed up to create a Netbook for kids, aptly named the Disney Netpal (officially it's the Eee PC MK90).
Available in Princess Pink or Magic Blue, this device is more than just a repackaged Eee PC 901 in a pretty shell. The 8.9-inch Netbook gives parents total control of what the kid can install and who they can communicate with. In fact, this even extends to curfews, as certain applications can be blocked at specified time slots. The spill-resistant keyboard is a nice solution to clumsy children, while the harddisk is shock-protected against drops.

Intel Atom 1.6GHz
1GB RAM
8.9-inch display
3 USB ports; VGA-out; memory card reader; built-in Webcam
10/100 Ethernet; 802.11n wireless
Windows XP Home
The Disney Netpal is now available through Toys "R" Us in the US for US$349.99. Due to licensing issues, not all countries will have these units, though consumers in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the UK, France, Italy, Australia and Turkey will be getting Disney Netpals by the end of the year.
