Logitech is well-known for introducing some of the coolest gaming gadgets bearing the "G" moniker, from gaming mice to keyboard and our personal favorite, the G25 Racing Wheel.
Now it seems that the Swiss company is going to take on the more established brands like Thrustmaster with another addition to its gaming gear range. Logitech announced the availability of the Flight System G940 for the
PC in Asia today, claiming to be its first force feedback joystick.
Apart from the eye-watering price of S$550 (US$390.60), you get a force feedback joystick, dual throttle and rudder pedals, but like the S$529 (US$375.68) G25 Racing Wheel, you do get what you pay for. Logitech claims that its more precise and tactile force feedback technology in the joystick delivers a much more realistic experience than vibration feedback or rumble technology. Force feedback works on applying resistive pressure on the control itself, rather than using a vibrator to create the feedback.
One point we spotted in the press release is that Logitech mentioned the experience of flying an Airbus A380. We just happen to know that commercial airline fans will prefer having a
yoke instead of a joystick. So will Logitech be making a yoke version of the G940? We sure hope to see one!
