HTC Sense is the custom interface developed by the Taiwan manufacturer for its latest Android phone, the Hero. It is one of the highlights of the device because of its various user-friendly modifications, including the integration of social-networking services into the phone's address book. During its recent official launch in Taiwan, the company revealed that come October, the Sense UI will be made available as a free download for existing HTC Magic users in that country. This is also applicable to other countries in Asia after the Hero goes on sale in the various countries. According to earlier reports, this will happen in the coming months.
From a hardware viewpoint, Magic is very similar to Hero. Some improvements made in the newer Hero include a 3.5mm audio jack and special materials for smudge resistance on the screen. But specifications which affect performance such memory and processor remain the same. This makes it perfectly logical for HTC to release the UI for the earlier model, and is a good way of making sure its existing customers don't feel left out of new software advancements.
