Two months ago, iLuv introduced a new iPod dock, the
iMM153 Desktop Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker. Of course, it claims its "unique" vibrating bed-shaking accessory will "wake even the deepest of sleepers". The Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock also comes with a bed-shaking accessory. But it also has a very loud 113 decibel alarm that may even wake your neighbors (or the dead as well).
We do get annoyed when a manufacturer "overclaims" its product capabilities, so in the good spirit of providing the right consumer advice, we went to search for the greatest bed shaker ever built.
The most amazing "bed shaker" we found was a homemade project, powered by compressed air and controlled by a computer (presumably so that the user can set the time that it would shake him awake). Watch the video for a demonstration.
We think this deserves the title of "bed shaker". No, we think this deserves a better name: Bed rocker, sleep destroyer, bed bouncer, or dream buster perhaps? Well, you get the idea. Just don't try shaking a bunk bed with that.
