For a company which just recently entered our radar, iiView sure has ambitious plans. Apart from making news with its MacBook Air-like Netbook, the Singapore-based vendor has another trick up its sleeve. It claims to have made one of Asia's largest touchscreen 47-inch LCD TV that's also an all-in-one.
Based on its existing MCT-47 LCD TV PC, the MCT-47TS has a 3M-made resistive layer that allows the user to navigate onscreen using a finger. Currently, this machine can detect only a single digit, though iiView said a multitouch driver is in the works and should be ready in a week or two. However, currently it will only be enabled for proprietary 3M applications and the drivers for Windows 7 should be available later in the year. You can check out our hands-on video after the break.
Frankly, this machine is a head scratcher. Is it first and foremost an LCD TV with PC functions, or an all-in-one with a high-end entertainment touch panel? Based on the fact that this machine comes bundled with a wireless keyboard and Microsoft Media Center remote, we're settling for the latter. Here are some of the specs for this touchscreen PC.
2.7GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ processor
4GB RAM
47-inch full-HD display (5ms response time; 500cd/m2 brightness; contrast ratio 13,000:1)
500GB HDD
ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card
Blu-ray combo drive
Dual analog and digital TV tuner
Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11a/b/g wireless
4-in-1 card reader, four USB port; two HDMI, FireWire and S-VCD output
According to iiView's CEO, this touchscreen machine targets corporate boardrooms with a price of
S$4,000 (US$2,879.15) to S$5,000 (US$3,598.93) S$6,000 (US$4,318.72) to S$7,000 (US$5,038.51).
Update: The price have been revised based on the latest information.
