In terms of sheer recording capacity, nothing really comes close to the upcoming Panasonic DIGA DMR-BW970 digital video recorder (DVR). It's possibly the world's first 2TB DVR which can record an eye-popping 1,440 hours or two months' worth of HD videos--well, sort of, at the lowest recording quality mode. This hybrid DVR also doubles as an all-round Blu-ray recorder/player that supports BD-Live advanced interactive features, as well as studio-quality Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD surround sound.
The DMR-BW970 will launch with five other models in Japan from September. These are the 1TB DMR-BW870, 500GB DMR-BW770 and 320GB DMR-BW570/DMR-BR570/DMR-BR670V. The last goes one step further by integrating legacy VHS recording in addition to Blu-ray and hard disc media.
