Mini camcorders are whipping up a storm these days and even marques such as
Samsung and
Sony have joined in the fray. But the brand which started it all is Flip, which was soon followed by
Creative and Kodak. However, most of these pocket videocams can record at best only 720p-quality clips, which Flip soon trumped with the
UltraHD that can captures 1080p videos.
Not to be ousted, Kodak today unveiled the Zi8, a mini camcorder which joins the rank of the UltraHD. Featuring 1080p video recording, the Zi8 also has face detection and image stabilization, as well as a 2.5-inch LCD and SDHC card slot for memory expansion. But what's interesting is the Facebook uploading option which optimizes the recordings for the social-networking site.

Engadget reports that the Zi8 will be available in September for US$180.
