BenQ is a brand better known for its monitors, notebooks and projectors. However, it recently made a foray into the All-in-One space with its new nScreen series. Unlike traditional desktops in which the display and CPU are separate units, All-in-Ones combine the two into one sleek unit. The tradeoff is a less powerful laptop platform used instead of a desktop chipset.
Available in two screen sizes, the nScreen i91 comes with an 18.5-inch panel, while the i221 is equipped with a 21.5-inch display. Based on the AMD Sempron processor with integrated ATI Mobility Radeon X1200 video card, gaming is not on the cards with this PC. But it will certainly suffice for Internet surfing and productivity tasks. Unlike the Vostro All-in-One, the nScreen cannot be configured with more powerful components. This helps keep the All-in-One nScreen affordable as its target audience are budget users and students. Specifications include:
AMD Sempron 1.5GHz processor
ATI Mobility Radeon X1200 integrated graphics
HDD or SSD storage
18.5-inch (i91) or 21.5-inch (i221) display
10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g network connectivity
Six USB ports, VGA output and 4-in-1 card reader
4.2kg (i91)/4.6kg (i221)
The nScreen i91 and i221 are retailing for US$529 to US$599 and US$629 to US$659, respectively, in Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and Vietnam. BenQ has plans to roll this out to Singapore and other Asia-Pacific markets in the near future.
