First, MSI targets the
MacBook Air with the sleek
X-Slim X340. Now, it seems like Taiwanese maker is going after the
13.3-inch MacBook Pro with its first unibody thin-and-light, the MSI CR400. A unibody chassis differs from the typical laptop body in that the former is molded from a single block of metal, providing greater strength and yet reducing the overall weight.
Part of the Classic series, the CR400 comes equipped with a 14-inch LED-backlit panel with 1,366 x 768-pixel resolution. Like the MacBook, the MSI eschews the Intel GMA integrated graphic chipset and goes for Nvidia's solution. However, the MSI CR400 uses the older Nvidia GeForce 8200M G instead of the newer GeForce 9400M found in the Apple machines. Features at a glance include:
Core 2 Duo processor
Up to 4GB RAM
14-inch LED-backlit display
802.11n and Bluetooth
SATA HDD
Nvidia GeForce 8200M G integrated graphics
DVD writer
2kg (with six-cell battery)
