Garden Watch Cam keeps tabs on your green plot

If you watch nature documentaries, often there'll be scenes of flowers blooming or plants growing in quick time. Of course, those footage were accelerated, but don't you wish you could film your garden with the same results?

While the Brinno Garden Watch Cam won't instantly transform you into a documentary filmmaker, it does make for a good alternative for consumers who want to record the growth of their plants. The weather-resistant camera is clad in green to blend in discreetly with the surroundings, and there are two settings for picture taking. You can set the 1.3-megapixel shooter to snap an image every 1 minute or hour. The photographs are stored in the 2GB attached USB flash drive which you can plug into your computer to transfer the pictures.

The optics on the Garden Watch Cam are fixed and focus from 50cm to infinity. Hence, you can record subjects such as the construction of a new house across the street if greens are not your cup of tea. The snapper is powered by four AA-sized batteries and shuts down when not in use so you can eke out four to six months of usage, depending on the settings you choose.
