The first few people to own the iPhone 3GS in Singapore. More pictures here. (Credit: Damian Koh)
Let's put Jackson Low aside, the 29-year-old Singaporean who waited in line for nearly 11 hours to be the first to own the
iPhone 3GS last Friday. Of course, the local media showered attention on him and documented the moment as he stepped into the tentage area set up for the event, walked to the sales counter, and raised his fists (and two iPhone 3GS units) in triumph. Or relief, perhaps?
For the general public, some waited up to 6 hours before they got their mitts on a new iPhone 3GS, sans the limelight. I spoke to a few people that evening and most were appalled by the huge turnout, despite this being the
second time SingTel is exclusively offering the iPhone. Did the telco operator make the
upgrade offer so tempting that current owners jumped at the deal, or was it because this is Apple we are talking about. For those of you who joined the queue over the weekend, was it worth the wait and hassle?
