When Fujifilm announced its first 3D point-and-shoot at the
Photokina imaging tradeshow in Germany last year,
we caught a glimpse of it and were quite impressed. The 6-megapixel camera looked set to change the way shutterbugs take and view pictures, but its bulky camera body left much to be desired.
However, at the PMA (Photo Marketing Association) Australia tradeshow held last month in Sydney, the Japanese company showcased a more streamlined and stylish version of the 3D camera. Our colleagues at CNET Australia have the
lowdown on this camera here.
According to tech blog
Engadget, the Real 3D will cost US$600 at launch in September. Considering that you will need specialized hardware such as a 3D printer and monitor to output and view the pictures, we don't expect mainstream consumers to take to this shooter anytime soon. But we have to applaud Fujifilm for its attempt to revolutionize the imaging industry.
We have contacted Fujifilm Singapore for more information and possibly to get a test unit on the redesigned point-and-shoot, so keep a lookout for it on CNET Asia.
