If you're a hardcore extreme sportsman, nothing beats reliving your glorious moment of conquering that towering wave or doing three 360-degree flips in the air on your BMX. However, you need a good cameraman to follow your movements and not be distracted by that cute girl at the spectator stand.
The Chasecam designed by
Bastian Albinus will solve these woes. All you have to do is stick the sensor target onto somewhere prominent on yourself and activate the camera unit. When turned on, the shooter will actively seek out the target. Once it locks onto the subject, the Chasecam will continue to track its target as it moves around within the frame.
The camera unit can be attached to a person as he films, say, a skier going down an icy slope, while the base station will allow the snapper to be tacked onto a stationary object like a tree.
The Chasercam is not yet commercialized, but we think cameramen who work for sports-oriented TV channels will appreciate such a gizmo, especially if they often have to film fast-moving subjects such as Formula One cars.
