Danish magazine Mobil got its hands on what it says is an internal Sony Ericsson document detailing the company's first Android smartphone. Codenamed "Rachael", this device is supposedly based on Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor, has an 8-megapixel camera and comes with a 3.5mm audio jack.
There are few other details but it will be part of the Xperia series. The only device using that brand name currently is the Windows Mobile-based X1. Sony Ericsson has a lot of catching up to do in the smartphone space, so let's hope this rumor turns out to be true and that it won't take too long to reach the market.
Devlin
While I'm glad to see Sony Ericsson has largely dealt with most Android phones' shortcomings (chin), I wouldn't hold my breath. Yes, that coming from a long-time, diehard SE fan who's been with them since the T68i. The truth is Sony Ericsson has been slow to respond to the market but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to be proven wrong.
Give it a capacitive display and unique UI (something akin to HTC's Sense) and you will have a winner.
