Yes, we realize that stereotyping dads as tough father figures may be a little passe. After all, in some households it is the moms who hold the purse strings. But for those who have old-school fathers more comfortable chugging beers than wine after hours, here are three tough Netbooks you can consider as a gift for Fathers' Day.
BenQ JoyBook Lite U101
BenQ was the first vendor to give its Netbook the drop. The Taiwanese maker claims this 10.1-inch minilaptop can survive falls of up to 30cm, as well as crushing forces up to a maximum 50kg on the top lid. It was also one of the first to sport a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. If your dad works in a rather inhospitable environment, the JoyBook Lite U101 might just be tough enough to survive.

Fujitsu M2010
Fujitsu is well-known for making quality products. Despite its low cost, the M2010 is no cheap ripoff. Built with the same care as the LifeBook series, this Netbook can withstand a whopping 200kgf on its chassis, which is perfect for the rush-hour crush in trains and buses. It also helps that this model has an attractive glossy top lid and generous three-year warranty.

HP Mini 2140
One of the few Netbooks to sport a metal body, the Mini 2140 looks as professional as the business user it targets. But it's not only all looks and no substance as this minilaptop comes equipped with the HP 3D DriveGuard and HP DuraKeys which protect the harddisk and keyboard, respectively. We also like the fact that the machine sports an ExpressCard slot for future peripheral upgrades.
