Back when Acer released its first few Windows Mobile smartphones, it also gave a teaser of its upcoming lineup of devices but these were displayed under covered cases. At Computex in Taiwan, the company has put them out for all to see complete with Windows Mobile 6.5.
The large 3.8-inch 800 x 480 display is similar to what's found on the HTC Touch HD. What's different is that the F1 is slimmer. We don't have the exact measurements, but held in the hand, it certainly feels smaller. Even then, Acer has managed to put a full 3.5mm audio jack on the top, making it suitable for use as a music player.

The processor found in the F1 is a Qualcomm 1GHz chip, similar to the Toshiba TG01. We weren't able to test out the speed but the WM6.5 interface felt responsive. Other specs include a 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA connectivity and GPS for navigation.
A representative at the Acer booth said that F1 is a codename and that the actual product name will be revealed in October. The market availability was given as Q4 2009.
Though very similar in specifications to Acer's own F900, it feels much more desirable because of the design. The company's first crop of smartphones weren't very impressive, but if the F1 is anything to go by, at least it is going in the right direction so far.

This new Acer F1 with this huge 3.8 screen running windows mobile 6.5 looks absolutely fantastic. This is a huge step over other models because it has a standard 3.5 mm jack for stereo headphones. I think this will be a huge success in the US and can't wait to see this in person.
