Plasma TVs with 600Hz sub-field drives for improved motion fluidity are commonly available nowadays. However, the Samsung PS42B430P2M is bringing the competition to a whole new level by applying its 100Hz technology on top of the 600Hz processing. While we can't guarantee smoother and sharper moving images without a hands-on, these tweaks on paper definitely sound promising for an entry-level model that costs S$1,699 (US$1,225.92).
What's also amazing is that this panel has a whopping
40,000:1 native mega contrast that the vendor isn't telling, which, by the way, is theoretically comparable to Panasonic's flagship premium
Viera TH-P54Z1.
To top it off, the PS42B430P2M even comes with Integrated Digital TV (IDTV) for receiving free-to-air digital broadcasts in high-definition and Dolby Digital surround sound. The catch is you'll have only two HDMI terminals without AnyNet+
consumer electronics control support. The new plasma TV entry will reach Singapore by end of this week. It is now available in other Southeast Asian countries save for the Philippines.
