Lenovo launches entry-level C300 All-in-One

The title says it all. The previously launched Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 all-in-one was an impressive feat of engineering, combining a powerful Core 2 Duo laptop platform with motion-sensing remote control and strong entertainment features. The Lenovo C300 targets those with more basic needs and sports the Atom Netbook platform to offer a relatively affordable all-in-one desktop experience.

Given that this is essentially a Nettop makes the IdeaCentre C300 a little costly with a starting price of US$666. However, considering that the integrated 20-inch display saves you from having to buy a separate monitor and that the unit also comes with a discrete 512MB ATI Radeon HD4530 graphics chipset (most Nettops use an integrated video solution), and the IdeaCentre C300 is actually quite reasonably priced.

One thing to note is that though the discrete graphics processor allows high-definition videos to be rendered, this machine is not suitable for intensive gaming or content creation. The Atom chip's performance is the bottleneck here, so if you need a desktop for video editing or RAW image processing, you'll be better off looking at the IdeaCentre A600.

Despite its large 20-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio display, the IdeaCentre C300 comes with a unique foldaway stand which can be adjusted to fit on top of small spaces. Other features include an integrated camera, six USB ports, FireWire port, a 6-in-1 multicard reader, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity.

The unit will retail in Asia from June.
