In advance of E3 next week, rumors continue to circulate around the possibility of a new PSP and a new, slimmer PS3. Here are the latest:

  • Ars Technica is reporting that the next-gen, UMD-free PSPgo is "indeed real," according to a "trusty inside source" and should be announced at E3.
  • The same Sony "mole" claims that the new PSP will be "lighter than its UMD-sporting predecessor, along with lower power consumption and possibly a lower price."
  • The new PSP will be sold alongside the older version of the PSP (PSP-3000), according to the Ars report.

  • GameDr destroys recreation of youth

Parents, I've found a device that you will love and your children will hate. Just don't tell them you heard it from me, I have my geek cred to look out for. It's an evil video game timer called the GameDr.

It attaches to the power plug on your kid's console via a combination lock. Then you can program the amount of time left until it kills the power, losing your child's progress, and making him or her resent you. It will give them 10- then 1-minute warnings, so that's something.

Sure, they'll get their homework done, but is the rage they'll feel toward you for all time really worth it? We don't think so. But for US$30, you're free to disagree.

CARLSBAD, Calif.--In one of the more anticipated chats at D: All Things Digital, Palm Executive Chairman Jon Rubinstein showed off the Palm Pre and talked about several features of the smartphone for the first time.

Rubinstein showed how the device can search Amazon's MP3 store and download songs directly to the device, a feature mentioned at the Pre's unveiling at CES in January. The Pre is scheduled to go on sale June 6 with a price tag of US$199.99, after rebate.

He also showed a "media sync" feature that lets users grab nonprotected media files directly from iTunes without any special software. In addition, the universal search feature will not only search Google and Wikipedia, but also Twitter.

Wrap-Around-the-Corner picture frame gives photos a new dimension

    Leonard Goh  |  May 29, 2009

What's around the corner? (Credit: Photojojo)

This is no digital picture display but the Wrap-Around-the-Corner photo frame from Photojojo is so innovative that we asked ourselves: "Why didn't we think of it earlier?"

The Wrap-Around-the-Corner photo frame fits comfortably at almost any corner of the house and it consists of 12 separate panels which can hold seven to 12 photographs of various sizes. For a picture to wrap around the corner, you'll need to splice it in half and fit it into the adjacent slots. While that may sound like a hassle, we think this makes for an interesting montage of your works.

The retail price of US$99 for the Wrap-Around-the-Corner is a bit deterring but if you have the dough to spare, this picture frame can spruce up what seems to be a boring corner of your room. As Photojojo's Web site states: "Happy memories are just around the corner."

Are you still looking for an articulated home theater system with refined musicality and the dexterity to resolve high-resolution Blu-ray soundtracks? The Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) XT8-series loudspeakers and Arcam AVR600 A/V receiver may be the talented UK duet up for the job. Despite its slim silhouette, the B&W XT8 is a cut above most floorstanders, offering a three-way design with an extended 34Hz to 50kHz frequency response. This performance is delivered via a dedicated tweeter complemented by midrange and dual bass drivers. And it's all housed in a solid one-piece aluminum cabinet for extra rigidity and minimal sound coloration.

To ensure there's sufficient reserve power to faithfully reproduce CD, DVD and Blu-ray material, the Arcam AVR600 features a quality toroidal transformer and a rare class G amplifier. The latter is renowned for higher efficiency and low sound distortion. For optimal compatibility, this 840W A/V receiver will decode all the latest surround sound formats ranging from Dolby TrueHD to DTS-HD Master Audio. Connectivity-wise, the AVR600 offers over 100 assorted audio, video and control jacks to cater for the most elaborate home theater setup. These include five HDMI inputs and two outputs for twin displays, complete with Deep Color-compliancy.
