We know we are in the midst of an economic recession, but it's just sad to see Sony Ericsson trot out another pair of uninspiring handsets. Where's the
Idou we saw at the
Mobile World Congress in February? According to the Japanese-Swedish outfit, the
W205 Walkman and
S312 will be available in selected markets in Q3 and Q2, respectively.
The S312, in the same
Snapshot category as the
S302, features a 2-megapixel camera, imaging shortcut keys, a 2-inch display and Bluetooth connectivity. The press release also mentioned that the shooter "can be used horizontally". What? We didn't quite catch that point. Was it meant to be funny?
Next is the W205 Walkman which packs a 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio, TrackID
music recognition, Bluetooth and a feature that lets you have more than one phonebook directory on the handset. Aside from the handsets, Sony Ericsson also announced a speaker stand with integrated FM radio antenna compatible with all Walkman phones, and a Bluetooth handsfree clip-on. The speaker will be available in Q2 and the wireless earpiece in Q3.
