Slightly more than a month after the
5800 XpressMusic went on sale in Singapore, Nokia has today released a new software update for its first S60 5th Edition handset.
Immediately available for download via the
Nokia Software Updater app, the new firmware features a more responsive user interface, reduces download time, and enables still image capture for the secondary camera and burst mode for the main 3.2-megapixel shooter.
The preinstalled dictionary will also get a text-to-speech upgrade and users now have the option to download application updates directly from their handset. The latter can be configured to run automatically whenever updates are available.
Do note that applying software updates will wipe data off the device, restore it to factory default settings. So remember to do the necessary backup before proceeding. Also ensure that your device is either fully charged or plugged in to the mains, or you could run the risk of bricking your device.
