The excruciatingly long wait is finally over. Epson, the company behind the 3LCD technology, is finally launching a pair of home theater projectors to replace the 2007
EMP-TW1000. Some of the more notable enhancements for the full-HD
EH-TW3000 and
EH-TW4000 include a new but more boxy styling, the latest D7 LCD engine and dual HDMI 1.3a inputs. The flagship EH-TW4000 also stands out with its ultra-high 75,000:1 dynamic contrast, videophile-grade HQV video processor and onboard 100Hz frame rate-doubling technology.
So how does the S$4,888 (US$3,508.47) Epson stacks up against the S$4,999 (US$3,588.14)
Panasonic PT-AE3000 and S$5,999 (US$4,305.91)
Sanyo PLV-Z3000? For a lower price, the EH-TW4000 is impressive on paper and covers most areas from higher contrast and brightness to a powerful and proven processor. The Panasonic should have an edge in motion production based on positive users' feedback. The EH-TW3000 and EH-TW4000 are priced at S$3,388 (US$2,431.81) and S$4,888 (US$3,508.47), respectively, for Singapore. We've not received any information on regional pricing and availability.
