Nokia announces first Eseries with 3.5mm audio jack

This just in--Nokia's latest messaging smart phone targeted at the mass market. Although the E63 looks identical to the E71, it doesn't have HSDPA, comes with a lower-resolution 2-megapixel camera and records only QVGA videos at 15fps. Still, it's a pretty well-specced entry-level smart phone equipped with a quad-band GSM radio, dual-band WCDMA, Bluetooth stereo, Wi-Fi and a 3.5mm audio jack. Nokia's even throwing in 1GB of free Web space on Files on Ovi, so users can remote access their files even when their PC is offline. According to Nokia, the E63 will ship to Asia Pacific markets this quarter, though it won't be sold in Singapore. Choice of Ruby Red or Ultramarine Blue colors available.

Its supposed to be sold in EU for e$199 & in the us for usd250 (unlocked & pre tax/subsidies). Keeping that price in mind they could not really use metallic chasis.

No, seriously, I don't know what Nokia was thinking when they cooked this up. Compared to the E71, the stainless steel is gone, it has no HSDPA, no GPS, and the already disappointing camera is made all the more abysmal.
Perhaps Nokia's main goal was to bring it down to certain price point, but the only thing going for the E63 is the 3.5mm audio jack.
I'd rather buy a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter, wait a few more months, and get the highly praised E71 at a much lower than intro price.

Yeah, makes sense, even now, the price of the E71 is already starting to come down. With recession slamming the cellphone markets, you can bet the price slashes will continue and the price gap between the E71 and the E63 will further narrow.
