If you've been holding out for the
iPhone 3G from Singapore telcos MobileOne (M1) and StarHub, it appears you might have to continue waiting, indefinitely.
According to an M1 spokesperson, there has been a change in the distribution schedule of the iPhone in Asia and that "is likely to affect M1's plans to sell the device by the end of the year".
StarHub, on the other hand, said talks with Apple are still ongoing and the company is confident it will eventually carry the iPhone. However, Apple was unable "to advise as to the exact date when the device can be made available to StarHub".
SingTel has also chimed in saying that it will be the only telco with the iPhone 3G this year in an email blast.
The Cupertino company hasn't issued any official statement.
Our take on the current situation is that Apple is looking to expand its distribution channels in countries which don't have the iPhone yet, before coming back places that already have it and opening it up to more carriers. Apple has always operated under a veil of secrecy, so there's no knowing when the other two telcos will carry the iPhone. The question is, are you willing to wait?

if people believe that the HTC-Android-G1 is the real contender to the iphone, NOW is the time for HTC to release an asian version of this device (anyway, its unlockable now), just like what Samsung has done by introducing the T-Omnia in their local market.
