The VAIO A series is Sony's flagship entertainment desktop replacement lineup. It was the first to offer an internal Blu-ray drive and the latest iteration, the VAIO VGN-AW, ups the ante by claiming to offer the best display on a portable.
The massive 18.4-inch widescreen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and LED backlights. Besides having full HD capability, what really differentiates this VAIO from the others is that there it uses the same 3LED technology in high-end Bravia LCD TVs. Sony claims that this allows the VAIO to display the super-wide color gamut for Adobe's RGB standard, giving it exceptional accuracy when reproducing images and videos. The unit also comes bundled with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Elements, giving better value for professional photographers.
Specifications:
2.8GHz Core 2 Duo T9600 processor
18.4-inch full HD display (1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolution)
512MB Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card
128GB SSD with 500GB secondary HDD
Blu-ray writer drive
2.1-channel audio system
Pricing details are not available yet, but the system should start shipping in Asia come late October or early November.
