The Eee PC may very well be the Lego of the computing world, with so many models popping out of the woodwork turning out to be little more than exercises in mix-and-match.
The latest rumored version comes, surprisingly, in the pioneering
Eee PC 701 format. The Eee PC 701SD, according to
Eee PC Blog, differs little from the original save for a harddisk instead of solid-state storage. Naturally, this will make the unit significantly heavier, though the advantage is that the storage capacity will be larger and the price likely to be lower. There is also speculation that the new edition will sport an Intel Atom processor instead of the Celeron chip.
We've contacted ASUS regarding this unit and are still awaiting a response, though in this case we doubt many readers will be waiting with bated breath for the arrival of the Eee PC 701SD.
