Digitimes is reporting that Samsung Electronics has told its customers that fewer NAND flash chips will be provided to them because Apple has place a large batch of orders. The Taiwan-based publication cites its source as Samsung's customers.
Supposedly, the Korean company will be delivering 50 million 8Gb chips for use in the iPhone and thus will cut supply to its other customers in July. We usually take news from this site with a large pinch of salt, but it's not unconceivable that one important customer (especially since it's Apple) can greatly affect the supply of components in the industry.
What does this mean to you? Probably nothing, for now. But at least we know (if this story is true) that any shortage of iPhones in the future won't be because of memory chips being sold to other manufacturers.

Hmmm. Let's me think whether Apple's gonna go for a 32GB iPhone. Well we all do hope so
