Bucking the trend of
smaller and cheaper laptops, LG's latest couple to enter the mobile world are literally heavyweights. Launched in Korea, the
LG R700 sports a 17-inch display, while the
LG S900 holds a whopping 19-inch LCD.

The R700 is a desktop replacement with acceptable gaming performance. Running on the latest Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz processor, it comes bundled with 3GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics engine. The audio system deserves some note, as it sports an integrated sub-woofer and is compatible with Dolby Home Theater sound. Weighing 3.4kg, other notable features include an HDMI port, 1GB Turbo Memory, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless radio and a built-in Webcam.

Despite being significantly bigger and heavier, the 5.7kg 19-inch S900 is a weaker performer than the R700. Based on an integrated graphics chipset with an older Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8GHz processor, the feature set is rather basic with nary an HDMI or 2.1-channel audio output in sight. This model really stumped us because a budget desktop with a 19-inch monitor would probably be cheaper and more upgradeable.
Pricing details are scant, with these laptops making an appearance only in Korea for now. We'll keep you updated on when the rest of Asia will eventually get these units.
