Samsung's HTIB goes Blu

Philip Wong  |  Apr 03, 2008

The home high-definition scene in Asia has just received an aesthetic facelift with the arrival of the Samsung HT-BD2. For pristine visuals and high-resolution audio, this sleek 7.1-channel home cinema offers film-centric 1080p24 video playback, as well as onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding. Moreover, it has the distinct advantage in styling with an all-in-one Blu-ray receiver box and an uber-cool slot-in disc drive.

What's not so hot are its Blu-ray profile 1.1 and BD-Live interactive features omission. In another word, the HT-BD2 is already kind of obsolete out-of-the-box (yuck). But then, it's basically all about looks when it comes to this category of home theater. This Samsung kit is now available in Singapore for S$2,399 (US$1,578.29). Pricing for the rest of Asia is pending confirmation.
