If Electronista got it right, then we may soon see dual-core UMPCs from Intel in the near future.
Currently, Ultra-Mobile PCs are like little baby brothers. While laptops are slowly but surely heading for quad-core power, UMPCs have had to contend with single-core processors--which are so 2005. Intel's recently announced its
Atom platform--designed exclusively for UMPCs--which offers only a speed bump.
According to the
leaked roadmap, the Intel Atom 300 series chip is a two-headed petite monster running at 1.87GHz. Little else was uncovered, but the suspected release date is in the third quarter of this year. We'll keep you updated as we find out more.
