Fromm Works, the company that first introduced the Quik Pod extendable handheld tripod for compact cameras (left image) early last year, showed off its new version for dSLRs (right image) at the PMA Sneak Peek event in Las Vegas today.
For those new to the Quik Pod, it's basically a lightweight extendable pole that has a tripod mount on one end for attaching the camera. Users can hold the other end and fully extend the pole to take their own pictures, without having to set up a full tripod or getting a stranger to help.
This latest version for dSLRs, which is larger than the earlier Quik Pod, is designed to take up to 6 pounds of camera weight and comes with a self-portrait mirror. The Quik Pod dSLR is 45cm when retracted and can extend up to 135cm. It doubles as a monopod when a rubberized end cap is attached. The street price for the Quik Pod dSLR is US$49.95.
