One of the cameras showcased at the PMA Sneak Peek event was the
FinePix F100fd, the latest addition to Fujifilm's popular F-series compacts that sports the new Face Detection 3.0. According to the spokesperson at the Fujifilm booth, this new face detection feature is not only more responsive, it can also recognize and detect side profiles, too, as demonstrated in the picture.
The 12-megapixel F100fd also comes with a 5x optical zoom lens and can accept both xD-Picture Card and SD/SDHC media.
We also managed to get our hands on the
S100FS, Fujifilm's 11.1-megapixel prosumer offering targeted at photographers looking for a dSLR alternative. While we didn't get to try out the camera's film simulation features, we were pretty impressed with its comfortable grip, SLR-like features and overall design, which will appeal to serious photographers. The S100FS is expected to retail for about US$800, and is slated for first half of this year.
