For those who have been drooling over the US launch of the
Eee PC, here is something to look forward to. According to ASUS Singapore, this affordable UMPC will be officially launched beginning of December.
But unlike the US, which has a choice of three configurations ranging from US$299 (S$434.11) to US$399 (S$579.31), only the high-end US$399 (S$579.31) will be available in Singapore. It comes with a 900MHz Celeron processor, 4GB harddisk space, 512MB RAM and built-in Webcam. Though it is certainly more expensive than the initial US$199 (S$288.93) price tag quoted at CES, the Eee PC still trumps any existing UMPC in terms of affordability. After all, its nearest price competitor is the
Kohjinsha SA1 which hovers at the S$1,000 (US$669.21) price point.
