The Korean electronics giant recently gave its popular Ultra Edition 12.9 (a.k.a. SGH-D900) a mini makeover, encasing it in a silver metallic body, instead of the traditional black exterior. The upgraded quadband cellular, now called SGH-D900i, also comes with a new FM radio and larger onboard storage (65MB versus the earlier 60MB), on top of the other features found in the original 12.9 slider.
This totally slipped under our radar, but Asus has recently announced its first Windows Mobile 6 smart phone--the M530w.
The latest Exilim EX-Z1200 joins the Sony Cyber-shot W200 and the Panasonic FX100 in the megapixel race, with a slim shooter that packs in a CCD-shift image stabilization system. For shaky hands, the Z1200 adds a motion analysis engine which adjusts the ISO and shutter speed according to the movement of a subject.

An update to the EX-Z1000, the Z1200 includes a 2.8-inch LCD screen and a face-detection autofocus solution by OKI. According to Casio, the Z1200 has an Auction Best Shot mode which is designed for posting product images for sale on sites like eBay. It includes Auto Macro which automatically adjusts the focus for acquiring fine details in close-up shots to capturing large items from a distance. The images are saved in a size small enough that it's fast to load on a Web site.
The Z1200 will arrive in Singapore by end June and will be available in either silver or black.

Designer Bence Bogar dreams of more than electric sheep. His BYB Balance Cell Phone is one dreamy concoction of luxury and smart phone, with everything you ever wanted onboard: Two touchscreens, a 5.1-megapixel camera with autofocus, 2x optical zoom, QuadLED assist light, GSM/3G/HSDPA/Wi-Fi/BT2.0 connectivity, GPS support, and 3.5mm and miniUSB ports. There's even 512MB of internal memory on top of a microSD expansion slot. A software program, MindPad, lets users draw characters and symbols with a finger for rapid and simple input. If that isn't sufficient geek magnet, Bogar's amalgamation of titanium and stainless steel is deliciously chic enough to cause jaws to drop when you whip it out. We certainly like the sliding mechanism which allows this little sexpot to convert into a clock or digital photo frame when not in action. Say, what's that phone Apple's touting?
Though it's just May, but them camera models are flying in, thick and fast. The DMC-FX100 promises high-definition photos (1,920 x 1,080-pixel) that will look good on your equally high-def TV. It offers 3.6x optical zoom and something new called Extra Optical Zoom which can punch up the optical zoom range to 7x when the capture resolution is set at 3-megapixel. According to Panasonic, this feature works not unlike a photo editing software. While the camera is set at 3-megapixel capture resolution, the camera will still shoot at 12.2-megapixel and crop out the area that is to be enlarged.
The introduction of the 12.2-megapixel FX100 also maintains the pace of the global digicam megazoom race. Panasonic promises that its newest camera will be a breeze to use for beginners with its slew of correction technologies designed to correct hand motion blur. At the heart of the new Intelligent Image Stabilization system is the Mega Optical Image Stabilizer (lens shift) and the Intelligent ISO Control (auto ISO adjustment) that acts together in concert to correct such errors.
According to Panasonic, the FX100 is expected to be available in Singapore by July and Japan in June.
