Casio sprints into the 12-megapixel digicam race

The latest Exilim EX-Z1200 joins the Sony Cyber-shot W200 and the Panasonic FX100 in the megapixel race, with a slim shooter that packs in a CCD-shift image stabilization system. For shaky hands, the Z1200 adds a motion analysis engine which adjusts the ISO and shutter speed according to the movement of a subject.

Editors' note:
We will update with Asia availability information once we have it.

An update to the EX-Z1000, the Z1200 includes a 2.8-inch LCD screen and a face-detection autofocus solution by OKI. According to Casio, the Z1200 has an Auction Best Shot mode which is designed for posting product images for sale on sites like eBay. It includes Auto Macro which automatically adjusts the focus for acquiring fine details in close-up shots to capturing large items from a distance. The images are saved in a size small enough that it's fast to load on a Web site.

The Z1200 will arrive in Singapore by end June and will be available in either silver or black. Read specs here
