Puzzle Alarm Clock

Juniper Foo  |  Apr 23, 2007

Yet more wacky clocks. Even we won't wish this on our worst enemy. This one wakes you up by upchucking four puzzle pieces into the air. And if your brain wasn't scambled enough, you have to locate and put those pieces back in the alarm clock. That is if you want to shut that incessant alarm up. Of course, by the time you've learned to assemble this in your sleep, version two would be out with 50 exploding pieces. Here's an idea: Pairing the Puzzle Alarm Clock with the hide-and-seek Clocky. Nasty!

X725: The thin, slim BenQ shooter

Edvarcl Heng  |  Apr 21, 2007

An upgrade to the X720, the new X725 will be available in countries in Asia, where BenQ still retains a digital camera presence. Fixed up with a 7.2-megapixel Panasonic CCD sensor and a Pentax lens with 3x optical zoom, the X725 is compatible with both SD and SDHC cards.

Editors' note:
According to BenQ, the X725 will be available in Thailand in July at an estimated retail price of US$259.

A BenQ Malaysia spokesperson confirmed that the X725 will be launched in May in Malaysia.

Compared to the X720, the X725 has a higher maximum ISO setting (ISO 1250 compared to ISO 800) and offers 22 more scene modes. However, unlike digital cameras with a built-in mechanical image stabilizer, the X725 uses what it calls the Super Shake-Free system which tries to correct motion blur by increasing the camera’s light sensitivity and thus the shutter speed, which is somewhat similar to Fujifilm’s solution.

The X725 will be available in black, red, pear and silver.

BenQ T700: Another slim ultracompact camera from Taiwan

Edvarcl Heng  |  Apr 21, 2007

BenQ seems to be in the mood to launch things on the sly. The T700 offers most of the features on the X725, minus some stuff such as less ISO options though it does have a bigger 3-inch screen.

Editors' note:
According to BenQ, the T700 will be available in Thailand in July at an estimated retail price of US$299.

A BenQ Malaysia spokesperson confirmed that the T700 will be launched in May in Malaysia.

The larger LCD is touchscreen as well and BenQ makes good use of it with a tap-to-enlarge feature that literally centers and magnifies a picture at the point where it is pressed on. The Taiwanese manufacturer also included photo frame and stamp options that can be activated with a finger tip. Like the X725, the T700 also comes with the same Super Shake-Free feature.

HP announces new Deskjet and Photosmart printers

Felisa Yang, CNET.com  |  Apr 21, 2007

HP has unveiled five new printers for the US market: Three Deskjets and one Photosmart.

Editors' note:
According to a PR spokesperson for HP, there are still no plans to launch these printers in Asia.

- The HP Photosmart C4280 is a three-function unit (print, scan, copy) that prints black at 30ppm and color at 23ppm. It offers a 1.5-inch color LCD, memory card slots, borderless 4 x 6 photo prints, and optional six-color printing. The US$100 printer will be available in the US in May.

- The Deskjet D2460 is a US$50 single-function inkjet printer that's available now in the US. It offers 20ppm black and 14ppm color printing and optional six-color photo printing.

- The Deskjet D4260 is also a single function printer, and it replaces HP's D4100 series. The US$80 printer prints black at 30ppm and color at 23ppm. It sports a front-mounted USB port for printing directly from digital cameras or flash drives. It's available in the US now.

- The Deskjet F4180 All-in-One replaces the F380 and offers print, scan, and copy functions. The US$80 printer prints black at 20ppm and color at 14ppm.

Sierra iN Studio 5.0: Studio-grade iPod speakers

Nate Lanxon, CNET.co.uk  |  Apr 21, 2007

At Crave we're very fond of iPod-ready speakers and we're not averse to those that claim to be of a superior quality. How do you think we felt this morning to see a set that look like our studio monitor speakers and claim to be the most dynamic-sounding smart speaker system on the market? We felt good inside.

Sierra Sound has a history of producing high-end studio audio equipment, so theoretically it should know what it's doing designing the iN Studio 5.0 iPod speaker system (we don't think the same can be said of its capitalisation, but there you go). Of course, there's the ever-useful iPod dock built right into the top, or you could wire them into your home-cinema system, your PC... even your mobile phone if you've got one of those handy little adaptors.

These are pretty loud monsters, too, with 50W of screaming power encased in a glossy black, white or grotesquely red case.

So far these only ship in the US and cost US$399, but if they ever make it to Asia, you know where to find a review.
