X725: The thin, slim BenQ shooter

Edvarcl Heng  |  Apr 21, 2007

An upgrade to the X720, the new X725 will be available in countries in Asia, where BenQ still retains a digital camera presence. Fixed up with a 7.2-megapixel Panasonic CCD sensor and a Pentax lens with 3x optical zoom, the X725 is compatible with both SD and SDHC cards.

Editors' note:
According to BenQ, the X725 will be available in Thailand in July at an estimated retail price of US$259.

A BenQ Malaysia spokesperson confirmed that the X725 will be launched in May in Malaysia.

Compared to the X720, the X725 has a higher maximum ISO setting (ISO 1250 compared to ISO 800) and offers 22 more scene modes. However, unlike digital cameras with a built-in mechanical image stabilizer, the X725 uses what it calls the Super Shake-Free system which tries to correct motion blur by increasing the camera’s light sensitivity and thus the shutter speed, which is somewhat similar to Fujifilm’s solution.

The X725 will be available in black, red, pear and silver.
