Apple iPhone expected to debut at Macworld

Many industry analysts are expecting new products to be announced at this week's Macworld event held in San Francisco, among them improved iPod models, a multimedia streaming device and the much-anticipated iPhone.

The launch of the Apple smart phone, in particular, has been generating a lot of interest on the Web over the past few years. This is amid reports on the company's partnership with contract manufacturer Hon Hai to produce 12 million iPhones. There are also rumors from Taiwan that the handset will sport 2-megapixel cameras. Even sports betting site Bodog.com has started taking bets on whether Apple will announce the iPhone at January's Macworld or by the end of April 2007. With Macworld just a few days away, guess we wouldn't have to wait too long to know the answer.

iLuv i552BLK: Another iPod dock

We don't usually take notice of docks, but this one deserves a mention for how it integrates a handle into the design. Clean and neat, the unimaginatively-named i552BLK turns back the clock to boombox days. A wireless remote control, iPod dock adaptors and FM radio functionality are included. More CES stories.

100-million-yen mobile phone strap

You can say that again slowly. That's 100 million yen. Or US$842,000 whoppers in greenbacks. All that for Japanese jewelry designer Diaddict's diamond-studded strap for mobile handsets. Mind you, this makes the S$28,000 (US$18,421.05) for the Vertu Constellation handset seem like spare change in comparison.

According to blog site Luxist, this one-of-a-kind strap will feature a 6.02-carat yellow diamond, 0.61-carat blue diamond, 0.36-carat pink diamond and 2.1 carats in colorless diamonds. Go va-va-voom with 36 watts, a built-in AM/FM radio with an alarm clock function and a wireless remote. While its features differ little from other alarm clock/iPod dock hybrids, we like the fact that the Concert 2 can sync your iPod while it charges. Few alarm clock iPod docks are capable of that. iriver W10: Built-in GPS?

According to rumors circulating the Chinese tech forums, the iriver W10 will bring GPS functionality to iriver's stable of products. While geomancer types might appreciate knowing their precise location for optimal viewing fengshui, we think the W10 will probably be geared towards drivers who appreciate a little direction while catching a movie in a traffic jam.
