You can never have enough money or storage memory. Though we can't help with your bank book, Hitachi has the answer to the latter.
At CES 2007, the harddisk manufacturer officially announced its 1TB Deskstar 7K1000 drive with a retail price of US$399 (S$614.24). With this much storage capacity, Hitachi claims this allows you to keep 330,000 3MB photos or 250,000 MP3s. For those who dabble in high-definition video editing, 1TB lets you hold approximately 250 hours of HD movies. Its competitor Seagate is expected to roll out its own 1TB drive some time in the first half of 2007.
At CES 2007, the era of dual-core machines will soon be eclipsed by the surging wave of quad-core processors.
According to reports, the new Core 2 Quad 6600 will join the high-end Core 2 Extreme QX6700 chip as Intel's latest quad-core processors. It runs at a slightly slower 2.4GHz versus the latter's 2.67GHz clockspeed, though both chips are compatible with 1066MHz front side bus mainboards. Its close rival, AMD, also has a quad-core processor codenamed Barcelona in the works, though we may not hear much about it until the middle of 2007.
The Sandisk Sansa Express (1GB) takes after the form factor of the latest Sansa, but replaces the color screen with a monochrome display. What's cool is that the Express will also have a microSD card slot and thus can double as a microSD card reader. FM tuner, FM recording and a rated 15 hour battery life. Already available for preorder at Amazon.

Looking like a hat box or even one of those circular containers holding a treasure trove of Lunar New Year goodies, Sony's new VIAO TP1 Living Room PC will keep you guessing its function. We like that the stylemeister has broken away from the usual boxy CPU designs to one that looks good enough to eat off. According to barebone specs, there's HDMI-out so you can hook it up to your HDTV for some big-screen action. Onboard will be Windows Vista Home Premium, an Intel Core 2 Duo chip, Wi-Fi. The TP1 will also offer (rather disappointingly) a standard-def dual-layer DVD burner, media card reader, a decent 300GB hard drive and TV tuner. It'll be interesting to see the actual size of this piece of hardware since it's hard to tell by a single image alone (it's the only available picture at press time). As with all designer Sony products, start saving early for the US$1,600 sticker price.
Touted as the successor to the Nokia 770, the new N800 Internet Tablet is expected to be showcased at the upcoming CES show. While there has not been any official announcement of the N800 so far, images of the device as well as box shots have already been posted on flickr and several enthusiast sites.
