Printing 1,000 pages per minute may still be a distant dream, but Oce has a quick fix. Its VarioPrint churns out duplex prints--250 in A4 and 132 in A3 per minute--in double quick time.
While we can't think of any reason a home user would require such high-speed printing unless you're publishing your own book(s), at least you know there's a solution out there. The VarioPrint 6250, targeted at commercial printers, is capable of printing up to 8 million prints per month, with duplex technology that prints on both sides of the page in a single pass and sensors which help position your media. Supported sizes include the usual A4, letter and larger formats like A3 and RA3, loading up to 13,800 sheets at any one time.
You can lay your hands on it for US$250,000 (the basic unit consists of one paper input module with total capacity of 4,600 sheets, printing engine and high-capacity stacker) from the second quarter in Asia, directly from Oce.
