Dell XPS: Overclocked and ready to rock

Darius Chang  |  Jan 09, 2007

Overclocking and water-cooling gear used to be the domain of tech enthusiasts. Not anymore if the Dell XPS 710 H2C has anything to say about it.

Out of the factory, the XPS 710 H2C's Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 is overclocked from 2.6GHz to 3.2GHz with full warranty coverage. But as we all know that overclocking generates massive amounts of heat which may overwhelm conventional air-cooled heat sinks. As such, the system also ships with a hybrid liquid-cooling setup that brings down the temperature to manageable levels.

Priced at US$5,200, it is definitely not for the faint-hearted. However, it is still significantly cheaper than similar offerings from Velocity Micro and Widow PC which manufacture high-end gaming rigs for the US market.
