With 007 due to explode on the silver screen this week, the peerless Q probably goes shopping at Thanko's Web site for some of his gizmos. We've already spotted at least one candidate for the Bond arsenal, the FMP3 Watch. Looks covertly like a timepiece, but this Swiss Army Knife of a watch can carry out a multitude of functions, from secretly taping up to 1GB of conversations to line-in recording, to MP3 playback to impress the girl. It even has an FM transmitter for playing through the Aston Martin's car audio system. The only thing missing is a Bond Babe magnet. But that's probably in the next version, coming to a wrist near you.
After much speculation and rumors, the ThinkPad X60 Tablet will finally be hitting stores come December, bringing with it a few unexpected surprises.
Besides promising the excellent battery life of its non-tablet sibling, the ThinkPad X60, the new tablet features dual-core technology in a 12.1-inch form factor. Appearing for the first time will be the dual touchscreen/digitizer display and active rotation features which may get consumers thinking "Now why didn't I miss them before"?
The accelerometer, used to park and protect the harddisk reader, is now used in another more user-friendly way. By detecting which direction the notebook is held, the screen automatically rotates to an upright orientation. The X60 Tablet's :CD panel has also its outdoor viewability increased.
Most tablet displays require the use of a digitizer stylus for onscreen navigation. However, the new ThinkPad Tablet can switch to a touchscreen mode that allows one to use finger tips or any other pointed object to move the cursor. This provides an additional input method for users.
The ThinkPad X60 Tablet will race out of the warehouse and into Asia-Pacific stores on December 17. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

Offering what could be the first 1kg notebook with the option for a discrete graphics card, LG redefines the concept of ultraportable computing.
According to Howard Lee, managing director for LG Electronics Singapore, the C1 and A1 Express Dual are the world’s first notebooks in the 1kg PC range to be equipped with a discrete graphic card. Indeed, the 256MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 chipset is rarely seen in 12.1-inch portables, making it even more spectacular considering that the new LG models have 10.6-inch screens. Though it may not be enough to handle high-end 3D games, it is certainly more than sufficient for video decoding and simple gaming.
Clad in a glossy piano black and glossy white chassis, the LG C1 Express is a convertible tablet version of the LG A1 Express. Slightly larger and heavier than the latter, it will cost S$3,999 (US$2,630.92) when it hits the stores in mid-November. The price and availability of the LG A1 Express will be released at a later date.
Rejoice Samsung YP-Z5F users. Though the Korean chabol has been busy coming up with new MP3 players like the speaker-enabled YP-K5 and the Bluetooth-ready YP-T9B, it has not neglected its past players. A new firmware update from Samsung promises to boost the rated battery life from 35 to 44 hours.
