The Lenovo 3000 C100 has been given a new model number, C200, to celebrate its Core 2 Duo facelift. The Lenovo 3000 C200 uses the latest mobile processor from Intel while retaining the design and affordability of its predecessor.
Not everyone is willing to pay a premium for a ThinkPad with its advanced data security and physical protection features. As such, the Chinese company offers the entry-level Lenovo 3000 series as an alternative for small-business users who require a cheaper mobile solution. The Lenovo 3000 C200 is now available with a starting price of S$1,799 (US$1,183.55).
Like falling dominos, the 13.3-inch MacBook is the next in line to cast aside the Core Duo chip and gear up with the Core 2 Duo processor.
A nice holiday season surprise is that not only are the prices for the three MacBook models unchanged, the specifications have been bumped up, making these portables even more attractive to your wallet. The base model stayed unaltered except for a processor upgrade to the equivalent Core 2 Duo chip. The midrange laptop and high-end black model have had memory increased to 1GB and the optical drive upgraded to a double-layer SuperDrive. Their harddisks have also been increased to 80GB and 120GB, respectively.
According to Apple, the new units should show up to a 25 percent performance increase from the previous generation. The new MacBooks are available for order at Apple's online store and take three to five business days for delivery.
The US-based mobile phone maker has recently unveiled its third Product (Red) cellular phone in support of the Global Fund founded to fight Aids in Africa. Oddly, this latest Product (Red) addition is not wrapped in red casing like the earlier-announced RED MOTORAZR V3m and Red SLVR L7, but in the form of chrome black RAZR V3i.
For those heading out to colder climes this coming December vacation, here's a godsend for Asians whose blood is too thin for those chilly winters. Japan's condom store Okamoto is offering Kaion-kun, a hot seat (of the good kind). From what we can understand of the Japanese site, this utilizes mineral ores to react with oxygen to generate heat, transferring it via infrared. No word on how long the pad lasts, though it's not likely to be reusable. If so, prepare to cough out about US$4 a piece. Butt seriously, this is a small price to pay for keeping your cheeks (and we don't mean those on your face) toasty on that ice-cold chair. This one time, we're betting nobody minds being in the hot seat.
If cute could kill, this little sea-going mammal lookalike certainly has what it takes to rule the waves. We would like to think it can out flip 007 at Casino Royale with its plastic flippers.
Toshiba introduced this as an imaginary character which will eventually be associated with the Japanese manufacturer's line of mobile peripherals and accessories. According to a Toshiba spokesperson, the decision to use Pala-Chan in more markets came about after the company observed a 40 percent increase in tradeshow attendance when Pala-Chan was used as part of the booth's marketing collaterals.
Pala-Chan has a girlfriend named Papu-Chan which is colored pink. Joining the critter are its dad, mum and a friend. Names of these characters were not known at press time.
Pala-Chan will be available as a 1GB MP3 player with a USB jack. It can belt MP3 and WMA songs for 15 hours straight. S$179 (US$117.76) for this beached whale thingy.
